This is a 2013 BMW Z4 sDrive28i – a car that makes you rethink everything you thought you knew about roadsters. This one, the sDrive28i, is the sweet spot. Under that sculpted hood, it’s packing a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that churns out a perfectly adequate 240 horsepower. This little engine has plenty of smiles per gallon, and thanks to that rear-wheel-drive chassis, you’ll have all the fun you can handle, whether you're sweeping through a bend or opening it up on the straight.
The performance is impressive, and the way the Z4 sDrive28i handles is, well, nothing short of a joy. It's light, nimble, and responsive, with the balance you'd expect from a proper BMW sports car. The electric steering is direct, and you can almost feel the road beneath you, even though you’re sitting low, hugging the tarmac. The 0-60mph time of around 5.5 seconds is more than ample performance from a low-volume engine with throw-around-weight. It’s more about balance, the feeling of the open road, and the way the engine hums under acceleration. The suspension is firm enough to keep you feeling in control, but it’s not punishing, making it perfectly acceptable for those occasional longer journeys.
Inside, it’s classic BMW, with a cabin that’s driver-focused but not over the top. The fit and finish is solid, and the iDrive system still works as well as it did when it first came out. If you’re after a fun, no-nonsense two-seater with a bit of luxury thrown in, this is hard to beat. The Z4 sDrive28i doesn’t scream for attention – it lets the driving experience do the talking. It’s one of those cars that rewards you every time you get in, and if you’ve ever wanted a car that feels like it was built for pure, unadulterated fun, this one will scratch that itch perfectly.
